Ryan Scafuro is an American filmmaker and director of photography currently based in London. His feature documentaries Bending Steel and Phantom Cowboys both premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, won multiple juried and cinematography awards, and are available on all major digital platforms. As a DoP he has been head of department for a number of award winning comedy programs, including two decades with The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Full Frontal with Samantha Bee. His short films American Renaissance and Election Night have been featured on Short of the Week, The Atlantic, Aeon, and Vimeo Staff Picks, and have received hundreds of thousands of views across platforms. He is currently a creative producer and director on the new sketch comedy series, Syd & Mike.

Ryan is a member of the Local 600 Cinematographers Guild in the US, and BAFTA Crew in the UK. Along with being a UK resident, he holds dual US/EU nationality, allowing him to work freely throughout the US and Europe without a visa. Over the past two decades his work has been broadcast worldwide and featured at prestigious international film festivals such as Sundance, Berlinale, Tribeca, Sheffield Doc/Fest, Hot Docs and many others. From commercial, to documentary, to scripted work, he is equipped with a diverse range of skills that are invaluable on set.
